If You Are a Mermaid

Many of us were never meant to become perfectly oiled cogs in a machine.

That may keep the machine running, but it doesn’t necessarily keep you fulfilled.

In any tribe, no one person is good at everything. There is a shaman, a hunter, a mother, an artist, a carpenter, a healer, a singer, a storyteller, a forager. Each carries their own value.

And the tribes — or societies — with the greatest diversity of specialities often experience the greatest flow and resilience. Just like a body, made of many different cells performing different roles, works in harmony because of its differences, not despite them.

If you are a mermaid, you will spend your whole life believing something is wrong with you while trying to survive on land.

Yet the moment you return to the sea, you remember you were built for a different world.
